Microsoft’s File Checksum Integrity Verifier is a very useful command-prompt utility that offers switches to help verify cryptographic hash values of files (MD5,or SHA-1). This is very useful as most tools and software we install nowadays are usually downloaded off the web. A quick verification of the cryptographic hash of the files we download against their published checksum value can give us an ease of mind that files were not compromised in transit or on the server where the download originated. In today’s age where cyber attacks are most prevalent, any bit of extra due diligence goes a long way!!!
